The exhibit was to showcase 16 design concepts for affordable low-income housing in Houston's Fifth Ward. The smooth and soft texture of a previous studio project made of wood came to the attention of the designers of this project entry, who asked if I would be able to coat their wooden pieces with the same process. Their design called for a system of uniform housing modules around a common utility core that allowed for adaptability. All of their modular pieces that were meant to be handled by exhibition visitors were finished with a five-step process for the tactile enjoyment of the experimenting public Michael Bell's book about this exhibition is available online at Amazon or Barnes and Noble |
